MG Meets Robert Marinkovic, Business Manager

From a Journalist for Vecernji list to a Business Manager at Manning Global! MG Meets Robert Marinkovic, responsible for finding, hiring – & retaining! – our talented candidates! Let’s find out how he changes other people’s lives & what changes he has made in his own life to date…

Firstly, how are you feeling? What’s it like to be working remotely – how has your routine/work changed?

I feel like any guy that got his wish granted – it’s fantastic.

Any advice for people working remotely?

Get a room 😉

What made you choose recruitment as a career?

I didn’t – it chose me! It was an exploration of new professional possibilities and I’m glad it happened.

What is the best thing about your job at Manning Global?

All the people you meet, talk to, and work with. Here we have a chance to make a difference in someone’s life; which is an amazing feeling. Plus, at Manning – as the name suggests – it’s a very Global environment, and being rather cosmopolitan myself, I appreciate and enjoy it!

What qualities do you need to succeed at Manning Global?

Perseverance; communication; discipline and emotional sturdiness (in the face of rejection)… oh, plus some good old-fashioned elbow grease to get the job done!

What is your advice to someone considering a career with Manning Global?

If you like a dynamic global environment, it’s definitely a great place to be! Go for it and be prepared to use and advance your language skills!

What was your dream job as a child?

I would’ve had to invent a job in order to call it my dream job: Friendship Betterment Officer, perhaps? Or, er, Leisure Time Aesthetician? Nah, let’s put a pin in this! Next question please…

What was your first job?

By job, I would suspect you mean an official one with paperwork, not counting father waking me up and shipping me off to the construction site with pizza money?! 😉 That would be a Journalist for Vecernji list. I was also a door-to-door salesman for a few weeks but couldn’t handle the climate on that planet.

What’s your most hated industry buzzword?

I make an effort to hate every buzzword equally.

Who do you look up to the most? (Both professionally and personally)

People with true integrity, kindness, and service towards others. I was lucky enough to stumble upon a fair few of those, despite the shortage.

What is your proudest professional accomplishment?

Managing to stay within a challenging environment and growing as a person rather than retreating into my comfort zone.

What are your hobbies outside of work?

Reading, writing, photography, hiking and gardening. Next stop: woodworking… I can already see it!

What are you binge-watching right now?

Married with Children… no, not the show; my family life made me give up binge-watching some time ago! I’m waiting for retirement to get back in the game!

Finally, what is your life motto?

To compare only to myself a day ago.
