Anything is paw-sible with Manning Global! Determination and persistence are key when it comes to remote recruiting, as Account Manager Dorotea Kust from our Zagreb office can testify. Here’s her story of life in (and out) of the office so far, including work trips to the UK, volunteering for the local fire brigade and why routine is key for hitting those KPIs…
Hi Dorotea, firstly, what’s it like to be working remotely – how has your routine changed?
We’ve been remote working for the last two months… time goes by so quickly at the moment! I’ve been sticking to my usual work routine as much as possible; having designated breaks the same time I would in the office etc. It’s always good to stick to a routine.
Speaking of routine… Do you have any advice for people working remotely?
Yes, try to stick to your office routine as much as possible. The setting may be different – for a start you’re surrounded with your personal stuff: family, pets etc. – but you should see this as an advantage and something you pull your energy from!
What are the best after-work TV shows you’ve been binge-watching so far?
How long have you worked for Manning Global?
I joined Manning Global two years ago, although it feels like yesterday! I vividly remember my first day in our old office [Dolac, Zagreb], the noise from the market was eclectic! I was also surprised by the diversity of my new co-workers, although it turned out to be Manning Global’s biggest strength!
What made you choose recruitment as a career?
I didn’t choose recruitment, it chose me! My friend told me about this company [Manning Global], so I did my research, and it turned out to be the perfect fit.
What does your role at Manning Global mostly entail?
It’s an equal split between straight forward account management: daily communication with clients, hiring managers, contractors and leased employees, and recruiting candidates. My other duties include contractor care, business development and internal admin.
What’s the best thing about your job at Manning Global?
The fact that hard work can lead to great things and a real sense of achievement!
What qualities do you need to succeed at Manning Global?
Determination and persistence, which are both key to building relationships with clients and candidates alike. For me, there’s nothing more fulfilling than seeing the results of your hard work – it gives you motivation to strive and push for more!
How would you describe the culture in the Zagreb office?
I believe we have quite a strong corporate culture and a sense of community; people are supportive of each other, there’s always a positive atmosphere that never fails to put a smile on my face.
What is your advice to someone considering a career with Manning Global?
Be determined, don’t give up, visualise what you would like to achieve and soon you will be able to reap the rewards!
What was your dream job as a child?
I wanted to be an astronaut… or a hairdresser!
Name your favoutite work trip…
All the trips to the UK are superb! My favourite one happened last year, before Christmas, when we went to three different cities in three days: London, Reading and Manchester.
If you could listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Somebody by Depeche Mode.
What are your hobbies outside of work?
I’m a very sporty person. I used to play basketball a lot, now I am into hiking, it relaxes me. During the Winter I am snowboarding, then in the Summer I enjoy all sorts of water-based activities, including swimming and diving. Oh, and I’m also a member of a volunteer firefighter brigade, which is a fun activity to do! My colleagues did a great job with removing the ruins of the recent earthquake in Zagreb.
Finally, what is your life motto?
Live and let live!
